Technical Notes
(V10 - 25th Anniversary Personal Edition) |
 |
|
Full Installations: |
General:
The current full install version of the
SandBagger contains revisions cumulative to the revision
date shown on the Sandbagger download page at this website. Detailed
installation instructions are contained in the "SBWII
Installation ACC2007.pdf" file distributed with the
SandBagger and available at this website (Click
Here).
In summary, the
Sandbagger V10 application is Windows PC-based and requires Microsoft Office Access
2007
©
Runtime
to run, and can only be installed on computers with either
Microsoft Office
©
2007 or 2010
installed, or with no version of
Microsoft Office installed.
Microsoft Office Access
2007
©
Runtime is supplied free with the SandBagger download, and to use
this runtime software the user must accept Microsoft's
license for the product.
Restrictions:
Installing the SandBagger on a computer with MS Office
2003 or earlier installed will cause major
problems (see
Microsoft support knowledgebase
article KB936158).
Similarly,
installing the SandBagger to a network or to a removable
drive is NOT recommended, as serious operability issues have
been reported.
Installation of the SandBagger on
Windows XP-based computers is no longer supported - install at your
own risk. However, if you have installed it and the only
problem you are experiencing is with running the updater
application, or closing the main SandBagger application, you are probably
just missing a reference DLL which
you need to install. Contact us for details.

Updates: |
Running an
Update:
The current
update version of the
SandBagger contains revisions cumulative to the revision
date shown on the Sandbagger download page at this website. Note
that the
current full version of the application that can be
downloaded from this and other sites can NOT be used to
update a currently installed version!
If you are using an earlier version that the one currently
available, you should download and install the
update copy of the current version available at the
Tournament Services
page (registered users only). Your activation information is valid
for all updates, and will not normally be required to
install one. See update installation instructions
contained in the "SBWII
Installation ACC2007.pdf" file distributed with the
SandBagger and available at this website (Click
Here). If
you need help running an update,
Click
Here.
Interrupted
Update:
The update process
may stop at any time with an error, or you may have
interrupted it by selecting Quit when the revision installer
appears. If one of these events occurs, you will probably
not be able to continue to use your application, and you
must manually restore it using the following procedure:
- Close any running SandBagger related
programs and open a file manager window (see note below)
- Go to your
SandBagger installation directory (typically C:\SBWGOLF)
- If the file SBGOLFII.bak
exists there, delete the file SBGOLFII.ACCDR and rename the file SBGOLFII.bak to SBGOLFII.ACCDR.
- If
the SBGOLFII.bak file is missing, or you wish to restore the latest
dated backup file in your installation directory, use a similar
procedure - replace the current SBGOLFII.ACCDR file with the dated backup copy
you wish to use, renaming it to SBGOLFII.ACCDR
NOTE:
You can use My Computer from the start menu to open a file
manager window, or type explorer.exe in the Run command.
Navigate to the \SBGOLF directory. If you are having trouble
figuring out which file is which because the window is not
showing file extensions, you can change this by selecting
Tools on the top menubar of the window (if this menubar is
not showing, hit the Alt key once). Select Folder Options
and then select View. In the Advanced Settings box,
un-select the "Hide extensions for known file types" box and
select OK.
Future Plans:
We are
currently working on adding Match Play competitions to this
free version of the Sandbagger. This should be released in
the Summer 2012 if all goes well, and will be part of a Version
10.16.01 update.

Archiving
and ReInstalling: |
You may wish to remove the SandBagger from your computer but
keep and archive any work you have done for previous
Events/Competitions. To do this, you need to follow a
procedure similar to the one for moving the work database
file to another computer (see the
Installation
Instructions):
- BEFORE
uninstalling the application, copy the SBGOLFII.accdr file from the
x:\SBWGOLF directory to another save location.
- After re-installing the
SandBagger, you can copy your saved file back to the new
x:\SBWGOLF directory. After this, since your work file may be part of an
older version, you should update your application using the
current update download.
If you
need help performing these file operations, see the note
above in Updating.

Application Troubleshooting: |
Problem
Reports:
No problem reports
for the last version have been received. However, we
found that in the rush to release Version 10.15.01, a few
typographical and cosmetic errors were not caught and an
operability issue was uncovered. Users
are encouraged to download and install the update (Version
10.15.02c) to avoid possible future problems.
Note that this version was inadvertently NOT uploaded to
CNet or the website recently. If you have updated recently
and your version does not show 10.15.02C, then you should
download and run the update again.
Several
users have reported update installation errors which can be
traced to record locking problems. This will occur if the
SandBagger application is running when an update is
attempted, or if certain programs that are part of
Microsoft's Office suite are either running or were run just
prior to attempting the SandBagger update. The easiest way
to avoid this is to reboot the computer and run the update
before doing anything else.
If you
experience ANY SandBagger operability or installation issues, we urge you to
report these to us at Technical Support (see the
Contact Us page) as soon as possible so that they can be investigated.
Support for
Versions
Released Prior to
V10
Please note
that effective 01-Dec-10, support for personal use SandBagger
applications (all versions released
prior to V10 - ACC2007) has been
discontinued. Commercial versions are not affected. If you wish to migrate to the current
personal version,
please contact us
(see the
Contact Us page) for advice.

Special
SandBagger
Utilities: |
The
SandBagger 25th Anniversary Edition ships with two special utilities embedded in
the application. These utilities are not automatically
enabled with application activation, but can be activated on
the Navigation Menu page by
registered users with a special code available from
SweetSpot. If you are a registered user and wish to use any of these utilities,
send us an email
(see the
Contact Us page).
-
Website Data Entry:
You can make arrangements with SweetSpot to allow you to
enter player information for a tournament at the
SweetSpot website, and when done, download and import
the information into the SandBagger. This facility is
available through SweetSpot's Tournament Services area,
and is offered at no cost to registered SandBagger
users. Certain restrictions apply: Only competitions
configured as "Single Session" (SS) can be used for
importing data from the website, and only one or two 18
hole sets of segments (from two to four golf segments)
can be used, and all teams must use common teebox colors
(set when you initially configure the Competition).
Contact us if you are interested.
-
HHL Handicapping Factors:
While most competition handicapping systems are fixed,
the variables for the scramble HHL System can be
modified. Although the system has been extensively
tested and routinely creates final scores that are +/- 3
strokes of a tournaments median score, the factors that
are used in the complex calculations can be changed. You
MUST fully understand this system before attempting
changes - obtain the necessary monograph from SweetSpot
before proceeding!
